Background
This library in a newly built junior school incorporated three small but distinct areas, each needed for a specific function and purpose. A small library, a designated reading area for groups, and a more confined reading space for individuals or one-to-one sessions.
We were tasked to fitout the library with bright shelving and seating that would create an engaging learning environment for pupils.
The Challenge
The light, bright space needed to be vibrant and engaging, whilst incorporating the school colours of purple and green. It was essential that the space was inviting and interactive, with bright colours and contemporary style to encourage reading and creative activities.
Our Solution
Low level double sided white Aspire shelving is carefully positioned in the main library to maximise the available space. Curves are achieved with the use of soft seating pads positioned at an angle between bays to create flow, improve access to books and provide reading space. Green edge lit acrylic end panels create further light and add interest to this bright modern space.
The main reading area features freedom display units to promote new stock. A bespoke reading rug adds colour and defines the space for group story time. In both reading areas, low-level single sided white Aspire shelving with green edge-lit acrylic panels ensure that additional book stock is readily available to pupils.
Every area of the library utilises brightly coloured soft seating offering maximum comfort for readers.
This was overall a very successful project and the school was thrilled with the final result.
