Archival Book Storage

Using mobile shelving to effectively store a growing book collection

Our mobile shelving systems are an ideal solution for libraries and museums that need to increase storage capacity in the same floorspace. Our case study below details how we helped a world renowned auction house to upgrade their archival book storage with our mobile shelving.

Background

This world renowned auction house needed to update their existing storage system to house a growing number of bound catalogues, dating back to 1766.

The Challenge

The challenge was to design a bespoke system that was sympathetic to the established surroundings and the needs of the client. The small space is underground and difficult to access meaning that the system supplied in K.D. format was perfectly compatible.

Our Solution

Moduflex worked in partnership with Oracle Storage to design a robust mobile shelving system, giving full consideration to the size and weight of the
stock, the available space, lighting conditions and the surroundings.

Mobile shelving capacity is improved greatly by utilising every inch
of available space, including alcoves in rear wall. The infill floor enables easy trolley access to the system and prevents potential trip hazards. Our client was thrilled with the results.
